A grounded and supportive therapeutic space

Hi, I’m Lana, a Bachelor-qualified counsellor and a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), based in Warrnambool, Victoria.

I created Steady Pace Support and Counselling because I believe counselling should feel safe, genuine and supportive. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you reach out, and there is no expectation that change needs to happen on the day. Sometimes simply having a space where you feel heard, understood and able to talk openly can be an important first step.

My approach to counselling is warm, grounded and person-centred. I take the time to understand you as a whole person — not just the challenge that may have brought you to counselling.

Before completing my Bachelor in Counselling, I spent three years working in disability support work. This experience strengthened my belief in meeting people where they are, recognising individual strengths, and supporting them in ways that respect their choices, experiences, and goals.

My approach to counselling

I take a holistic approach to wellbeing because our emotional health rarely exists in isolation. How we feel can be influenced by our relationships, physical health, work, lifestyle, environment, experiences, values and the things happening around us.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we'll work together to explore what's happening for you, understand patterns that may be affecting your wellbeing and identify your existing strengths and resources.

My counselling approach is evidence-informed, person-centred and tailored to you. Depending on what brings you to counselling, we may explore anxiety and stress, grief and loss, self-esteem, relationships, feelings of sadness, difficult childhood experiences, significant life changes or simply the feeling that something in life isn't quite right.

Most importantly, counselling with me is collaborative. You are the expert. You set the pace. I hold the space for you.

A little about me

Outside of counselling, I'm happiest spending time outdoors. I have a lifelong passion for horses, enjoy walking along the beach with Tina (my mini-Dachshund) and love photography — particularly the opportunity it gives me to slow down, notice and appreciate the world around me.

These interests reflect something I value in my counselling practice too: taking time, being present and creating space to notice things that can sometimes get lost when life becomes busy or overwhelming.

My love for horses has also inspired my longer-term professional interest in equine-assisted psychotherapy, an area in which I intend to undertake further specialist training.

For now, Steady Pace offers individual counselling face-to-face in Warrnambool and online via telehealth across Australia, providing a welcoming and supportive space where you can talk, reflect and begin moving forward in a way that feels right for you.

I offer counselling sessions in both English and French.
